Messe Berlin, organizer of Fruit Logistica, has canceled Fruit Logistica Special Edition 2021 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in Europe and the rest of the world. This edition would have taken place from May 18 to 20, 2021.
“I’m sure the cancellation hasn’t surprised anyone,” says Madlen Miserius, executive product director at Fruit Logistica. «The coronavirus pandemic is lasting longer than expected. We wanted to make a physical event a reality in May, but the prospects for business trips to Berlin and large in-person meetings are too low. Under these circumstances, it is simply impossible for us to meet face to face.
Messe Berlin has worked hard to prepare a special edition of this fair that would take place over three days in May. Fruit Logistica Special Edition was designed to withstand the uncertainties of the pandemic and protect customers, both their health and their investments. The concept was very well received in the market: registering the registration of more than 600 companies from Europe and the rest of the world.
«We created Fruit Logistica Special Edition because we knew, from the conversations we had with the sector, that there was a strong desire to hold a physical event. Therefore, we developed a concept to offer our exhibitors the greatest flexibility with the least possible risk. Unfortunately, the pandemic continues to prevail, which has caused the cancellation,” explains Miserius.
«There is a large international family in the fresh fruit and vegetable sector that meets every year at Fruit Logistica. We are already in talks with international market players and have started working to prepare for Fruit Logistica 2022. We will do everything possible to ensure that the 30th edition is an exciting in-person event. So, reserve a space in your diary for February 9-11, 2022 in Berlin.
